I will be moving to Portugal permanently in April 2012 and am enquiring about a possible position within your organisation. My mother tongue is English and I have a basic understanding of Portuguese as I attended a two month Portuguese course in Lisbon in October / November 2011. I am currently studying further in order to improve my Portuguese language capabilities.
Over the last nine years, I have held the position of at least assistant manager and upwards in the hotel industry where I developed a keen interest in management, administration, supervision, coordination and dealing with people.
With my Cambridge ‘A’ levels I perceive to have achieved academic capability particularly in languages. Having completed the Officer Selection Course for the British Royal Navy at the age of 18 years, I have proven that I have the courage, persistence and independence to complete varied tasks that take me outside my comfort zone.
My ambitions for future employment include dealing with challenges, problem solving on a daily basis, and may even extend to conflict resolution. I am accustomed to working under pressure. Work results are my main priority. Although interested in hotels, my key focus is on a position which requires a person with diverse management and organisational skills, as well as the possibility of short term training in order to develop my own skills and capabilities.
Through my work experience I have gained specific skills in day to day administration, managerial and financial areas of running a business: - Over seeing of various departments and management of such staff (kitchen, restaurant, housekeeping, maintenance - Reservations (in person, via email and telephone) - Guest Relations (general interaction and assistance as requested / required, tour advice, complaints) - Controlling of hotel rates - Cash handling - Purchasing and Supplies - Banking - Creditors - Debtors - Tax
My honesty, loyalty, abilities and hard working attitude are qualities that make me an asset to any company or organisation.
